CSC Certification Priority Actions
The Climate Smart Communities (CSC) Certification program comprises more than 100 actions for which a local government can earn points toward being designated as a Certified Climate Smart Community. A subset of of these actions is seen as fundamental to a successful local climate program. These are labelled as mandatory and priority actions. The mandatory actions are required for all levels of CSC certification. (Though we use the word mandatory, keep in mind that the CSC program is a voluntary leadership recognition program and the use of the word mandatory should not be construed as having any regulatory implications.)
The priority actions are focused largely on relatively low-cost assessments and policies that build baseline knowledge and plan for future action, or that establish your local government as a leader in emerging fields. The number of priority actions that must be completed increases with each level of certification.
